Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.
He gives the harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost

The baby, however had somehow managed to displace the plank from its place and purpose. His legs slipped through the circular opening in the grille and got stuck there by the arms only. Hearing the boy's cry, Neha dropped her vegetables and dashed back into the building and was by now racing up the staircase. Shocked and aghast the crowd looked at the boy while Vikram stood himself right below the boy. The boy was frantically struggling and the people along with Vikram reckoned that he would slip through any moment. "Get a bedsheet!" shouted someone in the crowd. A man ran to get one from a line. Everyone knew the worst was behind them. Vikram was all set to catch hold of the boy before it fell to the ground. "If I can't do this, I'll have to watch him die," he thought looking atKanhaiya intently.
Seconds before Neha entered into her bedroom when, suddenly, she heard an outcry from below, "It's all over," she thought as she stiffened and sank down on the stairs. It was then that the baby-boy had slid through the hole, hit the second-floor window-shade and landed heavily on Vikram's chest. His strong arms closed tightly around Kanhaiya. Vikram lost his balance and fell back.
Looking out through her bedroom window grille, sobbing Neha, noticed the crowd had dispersed-even Kanhaiya was not there. She rushed down and a man on the ground floor told her that son was safe and had been taken to a nearby clinic.

Falling in Love with Hagen's Nepal
Kathmandu: Toni Hagen, the late geologist from Switzerland, first visited Nepal in 1950 with a Swiss Development Assistance Mission to Nepal. Hagen, who was employed by Nepal Government in 1952, travelled around 14000 km across the nation, and during that time he captured the country in his many photographs.
At an exhibition of Hagen's photos going on the Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal, one will get to see how Nepal looked in 1950s. Organized by the Nepal Heritage Society (NHS) on the occasion of the 38th World Tourism day, the exhibition has pictures taken by Hagen in 1950s, maps drawn by him, and also a few of his personal photo-graphs-at work, with family and at other function.
The photo exhibition was jointly inaugurated by Swiss Ambassador Jorg Frieden and NHS President Ambika Shrestha. One will be amazed to see the Nepal of 1950s. People have become so used to the crowd and pollution, it is amazing to see a Capital with very less people and no concrete buildings in the photos. There are a few photos of Bagmati River at Sankhamul. The river is much bigger than with clean water. Boudha, which is crowded place with restaurants and shops, is just a few huts surrounding the main Boudha Stupa in Hagen's photos; there is only farming land surrounding the Stupa.
An aerial photo of Kathmandu Valley today would show concrete buildings, but Hagen's photo show sparse settlement and barren farming land. Not just the Capital, Hagen has captured place from the mountains to Terai, and lifestyles of ethnic communities there. Hagen has also captured Nepal's geography, natural beauty together with socio-economic, cultural and religious aspects of people of that time.
