The Chimney Sweeper
When
my mother died I was very young,
And
my father sold me while yet my tongue
Could
scarcely cry 'weep! 'weep! 'weep! 'weep!
So
your chimneys I sweep and in soot I sleep.
There's little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head,
That
curled like a lamb's back, was shaved: so I said,
"Hush,
Tom! never mind it, for when your head's bare,
You
know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair."
And so he was quiet, and that very night,
As
Tom was a-sleeping he had such a sight!
That
thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, and Jack,
Were
all of them locked up in coffins of black;

"Grandma! Grandma!!" yelled Dinesh.
Pabitra looked
around and said, "I'm here Kanchhu".
Dinesh was
perplexed when he saw his grandma packing so many bags.
"Where are
you going grandma?"
Pabitra looked at
her eight years old grandson.
"Your
uncle's house".
"Are you
going for a long time there?" asked Dinesh.
Pabitra didn't
reply but continued packing her things. At the moment his mother Junakiri arrived
looking very stressed. "Go to your room and check whether you have
completed your homework. Don't disturb grandma". She said staring at
him.
Dinesh went to
his room. He was scared of his mother when she was in a serious mood. After
an hour, she called a taxi and loaded it with her luggage. "Where are
you Kanchhu? Come here. I'm leaving?"
No sooner had he
approached than she kissed and squeezed him tightly, put some money in his
hand and got onto the taxi.
"Grandma!
When will you come back?" Dinesh shouted as she vanished into the
crowded city in the taxi. His question remained unanswered. He turned to his
father Jayram and said, "Daddy, stop her or let me go with her. Why
hasn't she taken me? When will she come back?"
Jayram held his
hand, entered the room and said, "She has gone to your uncle's house.
How could she take you with her? You should be anxious about your study and
exam. I don't know when she will come back."
Grandma loved him
very much. He used to sleep in her lap playing with her gray hair and
caressing her wrinkled face. She used to tell wonderful stories at his bed
time. She was a good story teller. How could he forget her? In her absence,
when his school had holidays, Dinesh mostly spent his day with Binita, a
middle aged woman, who worked as a housekeeper for more than 20 years for his
family. Her slim body with straight long hair; dimple on right cheek; pointed
nose and big black eyes; oval face with white skin and sweet, polite nature
made her fascinating and loving too. Everyone in the family called her Naani.
She used to take good care of him.

Koshi Tappu elephants kill 4
people in last 5 days
AMAR KHADKA
ITAHARI, Dec 4
Wild elephant
attacks have increased in the areas surrounding Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
in recent times. In the last five days, four people living in the areas near
the reserve have lost their lives due to elephant attacks.
Bhubeshwar
Sardar, a local of Koshi Rural Municipality-3, in Sunsari district, lost his
wife, Swobia Devi, 42, in one such attack. "I had left home early in the
morning for daily-wage work. When I returned home in the evening, I found
that she was killed at home by wild elephants," he shared.
The incident
happened on November 27. "Now whenever I hear about wild elephants
entering the village, I get shivers down my spine. On Monday too, I heard
people in the upper Mushahar settlement screaming when elephants entered
their settlement and caused huge damage."
Wild elephants
have been entering settlements almost on a daily basis of late, the locals
said. They said they have to stay up late all night in fear. "We always
fear for our lives whenever wild elephants enter the settlements", said Ugra
Narayan Sardar, another local.
According to him,
the authorities have however turned a blind eye to their woes. "Even an
elephant attacks on humans and crops are increasing, the government has not
shown any interest to resolve the problem, said Sardar.

This human-sized penguin isn't even the largest ancient penguin
we know about.
By Rachel
Feltman December 13, 2017
Today there are 17 species of penguin prowling the planet, and they are all firkin' adorable. New Zealand actually boasts the smallest extant species, which clocks in at an average of 13 inches tall. The biggest the aptly-named Emperor Penguin - still only reaches 48 inches. Big for a bird, sure, but you're likely not intimidated by a waddling animal the size of a third grader.
Things used to be very different for our flightless friends.
Based on its bones, researchers believe Kumimanu biceae a
newly-discovered species, grew to be almost 6 feet tall, and may have weighed
over 220 pounds. That's not even the biggest extinct penguin species we know
of. Some 37 million years ago in Antarctica, there roamed a species that grew
to stand 6 feet 8 inches tall. That's a LeBorn James-sized penguin. To help
your ponder that, we've found a picture of LeBorn James standing next to
actress Amy Schmerwho at 5'7", is a roughly-average-height human being.
Please note that she is wearing heels, so this is actually what it would look
like if an average-sized human in high heels stood next to
the largest-known species of ancient penguin.
But study author
Gerald Mayr of the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum
Frankfurt points out that it's not surprising some penguins were once big.
"Actually,
it is often observed that flightless birds become very large", he
told PopScivia email. "One rather has to answer the
question why there are no giant penguins today".
The new species
helps to answer that question by filling in some of the evolutionary history
of the lineage. Kumimanu biceae is one of the
geologically oldest penguins ever found, putting it close to the base of the
penguin family tree. Most other giant penguins (that we know of) came on the
scene tens of millions of years later. And there are relatives between Kumimanu biceae abd
those later cousins that were quite small, suggesting their gigantism evolved
in different times and places.
