### Group 'A'

Attempt any fourteen questions. (14x4=56)

1. Define Dimension. Explain importance of significant figures in physics.

2. State parallelogram law of vector addition. Find out magnitude and direction of resultant vectors P and Q .

3. A projectile is fired with a velocity of 350 ms-1 at an angle of 300 to the horizontal. Find

(i) the time to reach its greatest height,

(ii) its horizontal range.

4. Derive an expression for centripetal force.

5. Define acceleration due to gravity. Explain variation 'g' with altitude.

6. Define kinetic and potential energy. Explain various sources of energy found in Nepal.

7. State Simple Harmonic Motion. Prove that displacement is directly proportional to acceleration in SHM.

8. Find the length of second's pendulum where acceleration due to gravity is, g=9.81 m/s2.

9. State Archimede's principle. Explain experimental verification of it in laboratory.

10. Differentiate between transverse and longitudinal waves.

11. Explain the terms : loudness, intensity level, and pitch.

12. Prove that the relation

13. Explain dispersion of light in a prism with figure.

14. What is specific heat capacity ? Describe how specific heat capacity of liquid can be determined in Laboratory.

15. Explain Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. What is Lenz's law?

16. Explain principle, simple construction and working of a transformer.

17. Explain the terms: declination, inclination and horizontal components of earth's magnetic field.

18. Define cathode rays. Write properties of cathode rays.

19. What is galaxy ? Explain different types of galaxy.

20. Explain quantization of charge.

Attempt any two questions. (2x9.5=19)

21. Differentiate between microscope and telescope. Derive an expression of magnifying power in compound microscope.

22. State Fleming's Right Hand rule. Describe construction and working principle of A.C. generator and obtain expression for the emf induced in it.

23. Define the coefficient of linear and cubical expansion. Obtain the relation between them. Explain bimetallic thermostat.

24. Explain death of star by giving example- white dwarf, neutron star and blackhole.
