W. B. Yeats/Quotes

But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Education is not the filling of a pail, but rather the lighting of a fire.

And say my glory was I had such friends.

Summary Of 'The Lamentation Of the Old Pensioner' In English:

The speaker is in old age. He is now tired of the long journey of life. He is now physically so weak and powerless that he can't endure ( सहन सक्नु ) heat, storm and rain. He takes shelter ( छहारी ) from the rain under a broken tree. Before he was changed changed by Time, he used to sit in the company of friends close to fire and talk of love and politics.

Some young men even now are making weapons for some conspiracy ( षडयन्त्र ) so that they can fight against their enemies and gain some material benefit. These crazy 'rascals' are engaged in warfare against human tyranny. But the speaker's attention is deeply focused on Time that has changed him into an old and feeble figure.
Now not a single woman stops to look at him. He still remembers the beautiful women he loved in the post. However, the speaker spits ( थुक्छ ) into the face of time which has made him an old man.
